Trauma and Abuse Counselling

The weight you carry.

You've done well to survive. You built a life for yourself. But underneath, you're carrying something most people will never understand.

Trying to keep yourself together is hard work.
And you're tired now.

What you might be struggling with:

  • A persistent sense of confusion or struggles with emotions
  • Burnout or emotional numbness
  • Trouble trusting, especially in relationships
  • Vivid trauma memories appearing when you want to just get things done
My Approach
My Approach

More than just "coping".

"I’m not here to fix you, because you’re not broken. But I am here to listen in-depth, with skill and honesty."

Maybe you’ve tried therapy before. Maybe it helped a little. But no one quite got it. You don’t need another therapist telling you to “reparent yourself” or “sit with your inner child.” You need someone who gets how this trauma actually works, in the body, the mind, and the nervous system and who knows how to walk with you through it.

I specialise in working with adults who survived sexual abuse in childhood and want to do more than just cope. My clients appreciate that I don’t rely on therapy jargon or one-size-fits-all techniques. We go at your pace, and we go deep. When you’re ready.

Methods & Frameworks

Counselling Techniques

Your history, coping strategies, and values shape your healing process. Every intervention is grounded in evidence-based trauma therapy, adapted to your inner world, not someone else’s timeline.

Cognitive Behavioural (CBT)

Evidence-based therapy approach that focuses on identifying and challenging negative thought patterns and behaviour. CBT helps you develop coping strategies to manage emotions more effectively.

Systemic Therapy

An approach that considers individuals within the context of their relationships and social systems. It explores the patterns of interaction and communication within families and other systems.

Psychodynamic

Explores unconscious processes and unresolved conflicts contributing to emotional distress. This type of therapy aims to increase self-awareness and insight, leading to depth and resolution.

About Me

Dr. Leah Jameson

I’m a UK-trained Counselling Psychologist with a Doctorate from the University of South Wales and a Master’s from Birmingham City University. I specialise in childhood sexual abuse and incest, and my research explores trauma from the perspectives of both survivors and therapists.

I focus deeply on this work, not in a distant or purely academic way, but with a real understanding of how early abuse shapes relationships, trust, self-worth, and even the body long after it ends. When abuse happens within a family, it can bring attachment, loyalty, confusion, grief, anger, and misplaced shame.
